A fire erupted in a restaurant in Northwest Philadelphia on Monday as customers were inside, a witness said to NBC10's Johnny Archer.<br />Firefighters with the Philadelphia Fire Department were called to a two story storefront that also has an upstairs apartment on the 8000 block of Ogontz Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1, officials said.<br />When one of the fire crews got to the scene, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from both the first and second floors of the building.<br />Damage from the fire appeared to have impacted mainly the exterior of the restaurant, as well as an antiques store next to the eatery.<br />Emergency personnel treated one person and took them to a nearby hospital, officials said.<br />Jose Duran, a family member of the restaurant's owner, said there were people inside the restaurant at the time of the fire and that his uncle was at the hospital after getting injured.<br />"I just know that something, that wall right there, caught fire," he said. "And, I guess my uncle tried to be superman and tried to save everybody."<br />Duran did not know the condition of his uncle, but said his aunt was with him.<br />The fire was placed under control around 3:45 p.m.<br />Three people have been displaced because of the fire.<br />The Philadelphia Fire Department is still on scene and investigating what caused the fire.
